This Is Serious Concern That Takes A Little Planning. Works For Both

You have a hard enough time adjusting to a new life style and food input
at home when you decide to change your life style and fix the weight
hassle forever, or become a diabetic. When you are away from home for
long periods of time the problem compounds, do you have to drop your new
regimen and go back to what everybody else is doing, because doing other
wise is just too difficult and ruins everyone’s vacation?
Actually a few changes and takes along and you can do just fine. First
thing you will note when eating out is they practically bury you in
bread. It is cheap and they try to stuff you with it before the main
course. So easy one here, just understand there is plenty
to eat besides bread, and your are off of bread. (all grains)
You can even order a hamburger, no ketchup, add plain
lettuce, onion and tomato and tell them to "hold the bread" heavy on
the hamburger.
For meat, choose baked, broiled, steamed or grilled options.
(Vegetables ask they be steamed.) Pass on anything fried and especially
anything at all breaded. Ask if there is any trans fat
involved anywhere.
Your partner is often looking forward to eating any parts you are unable
to eat so order a full decent size meal and ask for two plates. Order
an extra salad, dressing on the side....or anything that works for you.
(or extra for your partner if falls short) Your salad, with vingarette
(ask for apple cider or red wine vinegar,) instead of the usual fatty
dressing. ask for some olive oil or coconut oil.
Any other dressings, toppings and sauces ask for them also on the side.
They are then optional, your partner can use and you can avoid.
Remember, you no longer drink food- of any kind including fruit juices,
on the plane or other wise. Only, plain- no calorie water, iced tea (or
black coffee if you must.)
Avoid the high-carbohydrate "often free with your room "continental
breakfast". which means the usual, cheap toast , pastries and cereal.
Grab some fruit and eat it over a long period of time a bite or two
half hour or better apart. Eat a high protein breakfast somewhere else.
Remember fruit has been bred for "high sugar" the last
hundred years. A diabetic CAN NOT handle tree grown fruit as a result
in any quantity. Never eat fruit and vegetables together, they require
two different types of enzymes.
Pack along all sorts of nuts, in quantity, such as walnuts, almonds,
brazil nuts, pistachios.., in your pocket anywhere you go including on
the plane. Never go hungry… stock enough nuts of the right type so
there is NO possibility that you will run out. Absolutely
NO peanuts or cashews.
Eat only plain, preferably FULL fat (12% or greater) yogurt for
breakfast instead of accepting any type of flavored or artificial
sweetened yogurt. (really bad) Yogurt and butter are only diary
exceptions.....eat all you want of either, preferably grass fed butter
but wont find that on the road.
Be realistic — don't make any plan to lose weight on
vacation. Maintaining your health is name of game, and not a
recreational food high,
Do remember, it is NEVER necessary to starve yourself in any way as
long as you avoid sugar rushes. (resulting in production of fat making
insulin in self defense) (no insulin, no fat making) Stay on right menu
eat all you want. (lots of fat)
The problem with most modern processed food available is it is too high
sugar, digesting too fast. In nature sugars digest out slow because
they are interspersed in lots of fat, fiber or meat.. If you add
butter or coconut oil, olive oil or flaxseed oil to anything you SLOW
down the digestion process and the speed sugar is digested.
Thus you do not have high insulin develop rapidly..
Well, you say on a trip in an airport between planes I can not find
anything high fiber but I am hungry. We suggest carrying a salt shaker
(pocket or purse)(empty cinnamon shaker and put contents of one in your
old former sugar bowl at home) fill this shaker with our high fiber
mixture and shake on anything you want to slow down the digestion of
sugar.
This will slow down the digestion speed
considerably. For example, if you take a tablespoon of
Metamucil, (trade name for pysillum) fiber, before meals studies show
lowers your blood sugar result 20%.
The fiber we use can be wheat bran you buy in bulk, ( you can buy in
bulk about a gallon which will last you a year or two for a couple bucks
at health type grocery stores.) Actually our fiber mixture
formula includes oat bran and a whole bunch but those are just details...
any fiber works. See our fiber recipe elsewhere... this stuff is so
cheap it is almost free.
What has been a great savior for me on trips is two things....and I
pass them along as serious considerations that will make your life
really work on trips...
If you are a trucker, or someone on the road a lot, this one is an
absolute must to make your "on the road" workable as a diabetic.
You wont hear about this anywhere
else.
