OTC Drugs Can Save 90% Plus

OTC Drugs Are Available Everywhere

Over-the-counter (OTC) drugs are medicines that may be sold without a prescription, in contrast to "prescription required drugs".

Usually these are far less expensive and are often former prescription (formerly expensive drugs) who have been around long enough to have gone off patent and been decided can be safely made available without prescription.

Now any manufacturer complying with standard rules can manufacture them and sell anywhere so several compete, not only in the manufacture, but in the selling. These items can be found on the shelves of Drug and other stores and bought like any other packaged product.

Prescriptions drugs may be bought and are sold ONLY at a pharmacy counter.

The prescription drugs required a visit to the doctor first, to get a "prescription", in contrast these OTC (over the counter) drugs can be purchased without a prescription "over any (sales) counter" just like other goods.

Some medicines considered safe in general terms may be available in general stores, discount stores, supermarkets, dollar stores, gas stations etc.

For example, clicking on diabetes, here is the first paragraph.....

Diabetes: Newer drugs are no better. One older type of medicine, the sulfonylureas, and an older drug named metformin work just as well as four newer classes.

Indeed, several of the newer drugs are less effective than the older ones. Newer drugs are no safer. All diabetes pills have the potential to cause adverse effects, both minor and serious.

The drugs have side effect profiles. may be the most important factor in your choice. The newer drugs are more expensive. The newer diabetes medicines cost many times more than the older.
